WeChat is a mobile text and voice messaging communication service, which was developed by Tencent in China. It was first released in January 2011. It was the largest messaging app by monthly active users. WeChat App is available on iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Symbian and Windows Phones.
WeChat has over a billion created account, 600 million are active users and with 70 million users are outside of China. WeChat has more features that allows users to get to know more friends via “Drift bottle”, “Shake”, and “Look Around”. WeChat features are listed as follows
Video Call – It allows user to make face to face video calls by simply pressing ‘+’ and press video call icon under the WeChat window. The process is simply like making a call from the contact list in mobile Phones.
Moments – It is used to show some exciting pictures, which you want to share with your friends. Everything is possible with the moments feature. You can also customize who can see your picture by visibility settings.
Voice Chat – This feature turns your Mobile Phones as a Walkie-talkie. You can use this feature under the chat window by simply switch “send message” into “hold to talk”. When you finish a typing the text, simply release the “hold to talk” button to send your voice chat message.
Web WeChat – This is useful for cross platform chatting, to start that you can “click on the magic wand icon at upper right and select ‘Web WeChat”.
Emoticons – It is more useful to express our feelings with someone easily. Customizable emoticon is one of the best feature in WeChat. It provides more emoticons, also the user can add their own emoticons by simply downloading from website or choosing from your Photo Albums.
Group Chat – To create a group, you have to select the wand button “start chat” and then choose your friends who are all you want to join in the group chat. WeChat allows you to add 40 members at maximum in the group chat.
Shake – If you want to get new friends on WeChat but you don’t know where to start means, Shake your phone and see who are also shaking at the same time locally and around the world. It is an interesting way to discover new users by just few shake of your smartphones.
Look Around – If your a new user, just you want to make a friends locally and not globally. You have to select ‘Look Around’ under the ‘social’ tab you see who are all nearby and send your greetings by clicking once.
Drift Bottle – Using this you may throw the bottle with text message or voice message. Someone from anywhere in the world will pick it. The process is anonymous for both sides unless you decide to make friends with the owner of the drift bottle.
Chat History Backup – Using this you can back up your chat history and restore it to your new device.
Friend Radar – Everyone who is using the feature will pop up on your radar screen. Just tap each icon to add them to your contact list.
